We took our fleeced to Pioneer Fiber Mill in New Smyrna Beach, Florida this year. Steve has been sending updates on the process and I thought people would find it interesting. Steve is a master craftsman who definitely knows his art.

Fleece has been scoured and combined with fleece from another Jacob ewe, ChiBaRa Pip. Both ewes have similar fleece insofar as color and composition. Both Pip and Cate have a rich brown fleece that is luxurious to the touch.
This season, we are having some of our fiber separated into light, lilac, and dark shades for distinct yarn hues. This process involves pulling apart the various shades into two (or more) shades.
Because of the predominance of lighter fibers, when combed and spun, this fiber will homogenize into a light gray/ivory yarn.

Roving is the clean combed fleece ready for spinning.
Natural Un-dyed Jacob Worsted weight yarn.
Steve at Pioneer Fiber Mill dyed some of our yarn a gorgeous moss green. We are loving the way the color took!
